Middle Eastern, A swing and a miss...

Sitting in Ali Baba's the other night I look over at my wife and say "man this stuff is so simple, I could make this" I think the beers had a lot to do with my cockiness but last night I was humbled. In typical fashion rather then wade in to the shallow end of the pool I would much rather grab a brick and dive head first in to the deep end end (occasionally I'll check for water first but not usually). So on Tap last night was home made Gyro meat, tzatziki sauce, fresh pita bread, jerusalem salad, and home made hummus.

While it looked similar to the meal we had a Ali Baba's the taste wasn't even close. Our pita bread was decent but if didn't puff up and separate the way it did at the restaurant. If not for the hummus this one would be our first big EPIC fail in a while. F-it right, you can't learn to get up if you never fall down.

Hummus
2 19 oz Cans Chickpeas (Garbonzo beans)
2 Tbs Tahini
2 Tbs Lemon Juice
4 Garlic Cloves rough chop
3 Tbs Olive Oil
1 Tsp Salt
1 Tsp Smoke Paprika divided
2 Tbs Balsamic Vinegar

Throw it all in a food processor and blend until smooth. (any surprise this is the only one we got right)

Spoon it in to a serving bowl, sprinkle with paprika and drizzle some balsamic over the top.

We'll be back with the other recipes when we think they are ready for blog status.

Enjoy
